Once you understand that complexity is built upon the simple details, you come to really care about those details. Peeling the ginger might seem like a small thing. You might be in a rush and decide to skip this step.

But do you know what takes longer than peeling ginger? Having to remake the sauce because your chef thinks it's too bitter. A dish is only as good as its ingredients, and data-driven solutions are only as good as the data being analyzed.

Sourcing and cleaning data can be the most tedious, frustrating, and time-consuming part of a data project. Before the doors of a restaurant open at 5pm on a Saturday night, you can assume the line cooks have been working for hours already.

When you look at a dashboard full of organized KPIs and interesting charts, it should feel seamless. The user wants to see something simple and elegant, not something tedious and difficult to use. It takes foresight, time management, coordination with other cooks and wait staff, and commitment to the timeline to have a successful push. No one person can make this process successful.
