If you want an instant heated and strong opinion then just ask a vendor executive whether his or her company would award exclusivity to a reseller. Mostly they would answer with a flat, "No way," or, "Not a hope. Exclusive agreements protect vendors and their partners from either party working with competition for a set period of time. By signing an exclusivity agreement, you both agree to work together to sell a product or service in a specified market. Exclusivity affords partners the freedom to develop the market without having to worry about a competing reseller taking some of the market they invested to create. When vendors find the right partner, many grant exclusivity because it gains greater commitment from their partners and provides greater room to get into the market, begin building a sales pipeline and see faster success.

Mayers had reached out to a friend that night — Jan. That friend reached out to the police. Mayers would be charged with felony possession of marijuana. The events that night would haunt the year-old for the next six years. They would tear apart his relationship with his mother and ensure his job prospects moving forward were limited.
And they would lead to a court case that could decide the fate of anyone arrested in New York State on a cannabis charge before the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act passed last year.
As the state readies itself for a recreational cannabis market, lingering criminal justice questions haunt the outskirts of the MRTA — some with lasting personal effects. In short, the MRTA made the possession, use, and sale of marijuana legal. It also led to the state expunging or suppressing from search almost , convictions for cannabis offenses to date — but only for low-level marijuana convictions. There is an unknown number of New Yorkers who received misdemeanor and felony convictions, and their records are not automatically wiped clean.
Post-legalization, Graubard reached out to Wei Hu, who was establishing a cannabis-focused law practice. The two had met more than a decade earlier through mutual friends in New York City, and today they are pursuing a conditional retail dispensary license together.
Years later, Mayers moved back to New York. He educated himself on cannabis, read books, then — through trial and error — figured out how to grow the plant and eventually sell it. Then came the night of Jan. Mayers was in a dark place at that time, he said. After his Colorado friend called the police, a operator rang Mayers and asked him to leave his house and head to the street.
Then he broke down crying. In his motion to vacate, Mayers wrote:. This conviction makes it incredibly difficult and in some ways virtually impossible to acquire the type of gainful employment which provides anything above a poverty level quality of life.
She was skeptical. Correction: A previous version of this story included information about Mayers taking medication for stress and anxiety. Mayers said the medication was unrelated to stress and anxiety. All rights reserved About Us. The Project Life Cycle refers to the four-step process that is followed by nearly all project managers when moving through stages of project completion. This is the standard project life cycle most people are familiar with. The Project Life Cycle provides a framework for managing any type of project within a business. Leaders in project management have conducted research to determine the best process by which to run projects.
Circle of project management
Fahad Usmani, PMP. October 30, You may think that the project life cycle and the product life cycle are similar; they are not. As a project manager, you should know the difference between these two concepts to align your business objectives with your project objectives. Since a project produces a product and then ends and the product stays for a longer time, the product life cycle is bigger than the project life cycle.
A project life cycle is the sequence of phases that a project goes through from initiation to closure. Projects are undertaken to produce a product, service, or result, and after delivering the output the project ceases to exist and the project life cycle ends. A project life cycle has many phases, and each phase consists of activities from these process groups: initiation, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
The phases are generally sequential and can overlap. In the initiation phase, you develop the project charter and identify stakeholders. The project management plan will be developed during the planning phase and you build the actual product in the execution phase.
Monitoring and controlling activities happen throughout the project, although these processes can overlap or repeat. Project life cycles are not necessarily a part of the product life cycle. First, you identify the stakeholders and collect the requirements. Once the requirements are collected, you will develop a plan to build the motorcycle. The product life cycle describes the stages a product passes through from conception to retirement.
I am Mohammad Fahad Usmani, B. I have been blogging on project management topics since To date, thousands of professionals have passed the PMP exam using my resources. This is a PMI-approved 35 contact hours training program and it is based on the latest exam content outline applicable from Jan 2nd, Organizations are having to adapt to stay profitable in this tough market, they must be results-oriented while improving their operations and working conditions.
I have discussed the matrix and functional structures in separate blog posts. Now we will discuss projectized organizations. Please note that project and projectized are different terms. Projectized is classification for an organization that deals with projects; many experts call projectized organizations, project-oriented, or project-based organizations. If they are not happy, you cannot say that your project was a success.
Therefore, they will select a project that is the least risky and could provide them with the maximum profit. Often, recognition is also a factor. Usually, these kinds of analyses are performed by high level stakeholders; e. I often see that aspirants do not understand the difference between a project and an operation. I regularly receive emails from those who are interested in applying for the PMP exam but are working with operations. Some aspirants applied for the PMP exam, were selected for audit, and failed it.
That is not possible! A differentiation needs to be established at the beginning of the article for teaching purpose. Two different products; the factory and the car. The 5 process groups form the project management life cycle. Product life cycle is a series of phases from introduction, growth, maturity to decline. Correct and agree? How would you compare it with the Agile life cycle.
The phases in waterfall are different then in Agile. Wow thnx soo much for this clear explanation of product and project life cycle. Thanks for your explanations about the differences between project life cycle and product life cycle. Please correct me if I am wrong, my understanding is most money spent during execution and most time spent during planning. Thank you for the article. I am working on an assessment of the Project Life Cycle. After some research I am confused, many resources suggest the Project Life Cycle has 5 phases Initiate, Plan, Execute, Control and Close — others define it as 4 phases not including Control and worded slightly different.
After reading this blog, now I got a good understanding between Project life cycle and Product life cycle. Could you please share me the difference between Continous process improvement and Process improvement plan.

Project cycle management PCM is a method based on years of development, focused on organizing and planning projects through foundational principles and defined phases. This process covers the inception of the project to its planning and execution. PCM strengthens the project life cycle by focusing on a well-organized system that has proven results. It's organized in phases that are laid out for clarity, objective goals and expectations, and universal practice.
The Project Life Cycle consists of four main phases through which the Project Manager and his team try to achieve the objectives that the project itself sets. Each project therefore has a beginning, a central period, a completion and a final phase successful or not.
The project manager and project team have one shared goal: to carry out the work of the project for the purpose of meeting the project's objectives.
One of the scenes shows the choir sneaking in a practice in an unannounced location without the tone-deaf deputy, only to have him show up. The first thing he wants to know is—who messed up and forgot to phone him about the new location? Even though this was a case of purposely failing to communicate, in a project that goes sour because of a lack of communication, the first thing every higher up will want the answer to is—who messed up?
Successful completion of a project is not an easy endeavor.
