They can add, delete and manage plugins and themes on the site. And, the administrators will also have the freedom to modify the details of other users, including passwords. Basically, you can restrict giving administrator access to only site owners, and trustworthy people who can have complete control over your site.

Hence, an Editor has to review and publish the posts written by Authors. This is exceptionally useful when you employ freelance writers to generate content for your site. However, one disadvantage is that those with Contributor roles cannot upload files to your site. Here is a look at the capabilities of the Contributor role. As you have seen above, the Shop Manager role entails different capabilities related to the store. These include being able to manage products, orders, refunds and even to generate reports.

As you know, the Customer role is assigned by default to anyone who registers in your store. However, you can create custom roles to segment your customers with the help of plugins. This will allow you to selectively offer personalized pricing, discounts, assign purchase capabilities, control access to products, etc. Stores with personalized pricing or wholesale stores can benefit a lot from this approach. We will discuss this in detail later in the article.

Moreover, you need to be extremely cautious on assigning the Administrator role to anyone in your store. Many external vendors might request you to provide them Administrator access from time to time. You need to evaluate these requests carefully before granting access.

If you need to share passwords occasionally with support teams or hosting service providers, make sure you are doing it through a password management system. Ann Tenbrunsel is not interested in evil people. Her 25 years as a behavioral ethics researcher has focused her attention on a much more subtle but insidious — and prevalent — form of negative human behavior. In short, why do good people do bad things? In her most recent study, a review of sexual harassment literature, she applies her research findings to a more specific issue — sexual harassment in academia. By the time the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke in October , my co-authors, McKenzie Rees of Southern Methodist University and Kristina Diekmann of the University of Utah, and I had already been knee-deep in reviewing more than research articles on the topic of sexual harassment for almost two years. More specifically, we considered the problem of sexual harassment from the perspective of bounded ethicality, which refers to the systematic and predictable ways in which people engage in unethical acts without their own awareness that they are doing anything wrong. We looked at the ethical climates and cognitive processes that influenced sexual harassment at the individual, leadership, organizational and broader environment in an effort to explain why the behavior happens and when it is reported. We all firmly believe that when we see sexual harassment, we would certainly report it. But the evidence strongly says otherwise.

The site is secure. All relevant data are within the manuscript and its Supporting Information files. Under the condition of sufficient resources, there are many factors affecting the realization of extremely short construction period of engineering construction projects.

Based on literature review and questionnaire survey, this paper firstly selected 17 influencing factors from the five dimensions of design, management, technology, policy and environment. In addition, the model can not only identify the critical factors in the system, but also present the internal logical relationship between the influencing factors through the multi-level hierarchical structure diagram.

These projects often have very high requirements for the construction period with little restrictions on resources. Based on this, a new problem is worthy thinking deeply: how to make construction period of the whole project extremely short under the condition of sufficient supply of equipment, raw materials and human resources. The report titled "Human Costs of Disasters —," [ 7 ] published by the United Nations, states that the total number of natural disasters worldwide has climbed significantly in the first two decades of the 21st century.

In addition, the outbreak of the novel coronavirus COVID epidemic demonstrates the extreme suddenness of public health events [ 8 ]. In the aftermath of these large-scale disasters, projects such as the construction of temporary resettlement buildings, the repair of public infrastructure, and the establishment of emergency hospitals need to be started immediately [ 9 — 11 ].

Rash construction will inevitably lead to the delay of the construction period and the failure of the project [ 17 — 20 ]. Therefore, it is very important to analyze the factors affecting the limit of construction period under the condition of sufficient resources and find out the critical factors. In recent years, many scholars have discussed and studied influencing factors of construction period from different angles and levels.

As we can known, most of the research on the influencing factors of construction period focuses on resource constraints [ 33 — 35 ]. However, in some emergency situations, construction resources are sufficient to ensure rapid construction, so as to avoid huge losses [ 36 — 38 ].

The influencing factors of construction period are preliminarily sorted out. However, there are still some subordinate and inclusive relationships among these factors, which need to be further sorted and classified. In order to ensure the scientific rationality of factor induction, the authors organized a research group, whose members are graduate students in engineering management in universities. The research group studied and discussed the influencing factors of induction.

At the same time, some factors with strong inclusion and subordination were reorganized are combined into a capital chain, the lack of skilled workers is included in the shortage of human resources.

Finally, 24 independent influencing factors were determined. Since the premise of the study in this paper is a resource sufficiency condition, the factors affecting the schedule due to the constraint of resource limitation must be excluded.

Therefore, the influencing factors must be further screened and identified. In this paper, a questionnaire is drafted by means of a questionnaire survey. The content of the questionnaire is divided into three parts.

After that, the whole sample is statistically analyzed to calculate the sample mean and standard deviation of each factor. The mean value represents the overall evaluation of the importance of factors by respondents in the questionnaire. The smaller the standard deviation, the better the consistency. The 25 factors are sorted according to the mean value of the factors, and Table 2 is obtained. It can be seen from the table that some factors have little impact on the construction period under the condition of sufficient resource and should be screened out.

The specific factors and their classification are shown in Table 3. The essence of influencing factor research is to identify the key factors and clarify the action ways between the factors. There are many kinds of research methods, such as PSR theoretical framework method [ 55 ], data envelopment analysis method [ 56 ], ISM [ 25 , 57 ] and others. PSR theoretical framework method as a qualitative method, is less objective. Data envelopment analysis can appropriately express the connotation of the main factors, but it requires a high number of samples.

In this analysis process, the first step is to standardize and clarify the gray matrix obtained earlier by using CFCs method, and take the weight of experts into account to construct a direct impact matrix; The second step is to normalize the direct influence matrix, and consider the indirect relationship of each factor to obtain the comprehensive influence matrix, so as to determine the influence degree and affected degree of each influencing factor.

The simplified reachability matrix is divided into influencing factor levels to visually display the action relationship between influencing factors. The direct influence matrix obtained by expert scoring is transformed into grey number matrix B by using interval grey number.

This is, according to the expert evaluation grey number semantic variable table Table 6 , the value scored by the expert is transformed into the corresponding interval grey number, in which the interval grey numbers on the diagonal are [0,0].

Step 3 Convert average grey matrix into crisp relationship matrix. The Gray number matrix B obtained in step 2 is normalized according to Eq 1 , and then clarified according to Eq 2 to derive the direct influence matrix Z k for each expert clarity value, k is the number of expert numbers. Similarly, the given expert weights are clarified to derive the specific expert weights W k , k is the number of expert numbers.

Iyer, K. International Journal of Project Management, 23, ABSTRACT: Indian construction especially public sector organisations and government department mostly depends on lowest financial bidder for award of contracts. At some point time of these projects, it has become a common scenario that there is a schedule delay resulting in extension of time. So it can be mentioned that modern contract handling procedures require an overhauling. The study presents a case-based approach, in which authors have studied different projects that have been awarded on basis of financial criterion.

A brief review of literature on project success and the criteria employed to measure the success is presented. The performances of construction projects in general are not up to the mark and thus it is imperative to understand the factors for ensuring success in a project. The reasons why a project fails are also equally important. It would be also interesting to predict the performance of an ongoing project.

This information bulletin is focused on those NRM activities that specifically require the participation of local communities for their sustainable management. Examples of these kinds of projects include: micro-watershed management, irrigation water management, soil and water conservation, community forestry, community-based coastal zone fisheries management, and conservation of biodiversity. Experiences have shown that centralized "top-down" conservation is only effective with large expenditures on enforcement or under undemocratic circumstances. As an alternative, participation of different types of stakeholders is now considered to be essential for effective and sustainable management and conservation of natural resource systems. It is generally accepted that participation by local communities can be fostered by a significant degree of decentralization.

Support to community based natural resource management

The project primarily aimed to strengthen land, forest and reef management processes and biodiversity conservation on all terrestrial landscapes and marine and seascapes in Batad, Iloilo Philippines. This will be achieved through a community-based strategy having a ridge-to-reef approach that increases marine protected areas and provide livelihood opportunities to the poorest coastal communities by gaining possible funding from public and private agencies or NGOs worldwide. This is a program that helps in addressing the agenda and sustainable development goals of the government in response to the economic challenges that the Philippines is facing today. The program is envisioned to provide a long-term solution to the critical coastal habitats and marine ecosystems that have been severely damaged during the onslaught of the killer Typhoon Haiyan Yolanda in The devastation left havoc to the coastal communities and mercilessly destroyed the livelihood of the entire fishing community. Thus, the need to conduct this extension program must be in-place. The establishment of mangrove forests that serve as barrier for natural catastrophe, reduces the impact of climate change, and provides sanctuary for wildlife species.

We treat the physical environment as part of the community and see the community as part of the landscape. Recognizing the interdependence of community well-being and ecosystem health, World Neighbors strengthens the capacity of communities to have a voice in decisions about planning and design of conservation initiatives affecting them. The natural environment plays a huge role in the health and welfare of people who rely on it as their sole source of income and food. This is the case for many across the globe who live in remote villages with little access to outside markets.

Tradeoffs between conservation and development in communitybased management initiatives

This collection of case studies reflects on various community-based coastal resource management CBCRM initiatives in the regions of Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon. Degradation of the coastal resources in the region, initially led to traditional top-down responses from the state agencies with practically no community involvement. This technique was highly ineffective, as the state regulations such as marine parks were not respected by local fishers and community members.

All of these threats have contributed to the degradation of fragile ecosystems in the Philippines, which local farmers and fishers rely on for their livelihoods. We also partnered with the regional Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Protected Area Management Boards, various environmental technical working groups, and the private sector to ensure the participation of all key stakeholders in protecting critical resources from further environmental damage.

Community-based management CBM has attracted much interest as a conservation and development strategy in natural resource-dependent communities in recent decades. However, most initiatives fail to achieve both objectives. The most analyzed CBM strategies in the literature include donor- and government-driven initiatives, but other types exist as well. The research objective was to identify the internal and external factors that influence the trade-offs between conservation and development in three internally driven CBM initiatives in Latin America: a long-term indigenous-based conservation strategy, the constitutional recognition of ancestral land rights of Afro-American communities and artisanal fisheries management. The results showed that livelihoods depend on natural resources, but none of the cases identified a balance between conservation and development. Community activities are not the primary cause of natural resource degradation. Conservation is supported by ethnicity and cultural values and is challenged by current development models and worldviews that push intensification of resource use and by power asymmetries.

The point is, therefore, that if a business does not take somerisk, it will normally be limited to activities providing little or nocompetitive advantage, which will limit its ability to grow and providereturns to its shareholders.

Business risk refers to the classic risks of the world of business such as uncertainty about demand for product Product risk. The P1 Examiner - David Campbell explains The risks businesses face will vary greatly between companies andderive from a number of different sources, including those shown below. In the exam you may be required to identify risks, or types orrisk, facing a business. The risks listed below are not exhaustive butillustrate many of the typical risks that affect a business.

Business risks. Market risks. Risks which derive from the sector in which the business is operating, and from its customers. These risks can apply to:. Product risk. The risk that customers will not buy newproducts or services provided by the organisation, or that the salesdemand for current products and services will decline unexpectedly. Anew product launched onto the market might fail to achieve the expectedvolume of sales, or the take-up might be much slower than expected.

Forexample, the demand for 'third generation' 3G mobile communicationsservices has grown much slower than expected by the mobile telephoneservice providers, due partly to the sluggish development of suitablemobile phone handsets of its credit rating. Commodity price risk. Businesses might be exposed to risksfrom unexpected increases or falls in the price of a key commodity.

Businesses providing commodities, such as oil companies and commodityfarmers, are directly affected by price changes. Equally, companies thatrely on the use of commodities could be exposed to risks from pricechanges. For example, airlines are exposed to the risk of increases infuel prices, particularly when market demand for flights is weak, and soincreases in ticket prices for flights are not possible.

Product reputation risk. Some companies rely heavily onbrand image and product reputation, and an adverse event could put itsreputation and so future sales at risk.

Risk to a product's reputationcould arise from adverse public attitudes to a product or from negativepublicity: this has been evident in Europe with widespread hostility togenetically-modified GM foods. Credit risk. Credit risk is the possibility of losses due tonon-payment, or late payment, by customers. The exposure of a companyto credit risks depends on factors such as:.

Currency risk. Currency risk, or foreign exchange risk, arises from the possibility of movements in foreign exchange rates, andthe value of one currency in relation to another. Interest rate risk. Interest rate risk is the risk ofunexpected gains or losses arising as a consequence of a rise or fall ininterest rates.

Exposures to interest rate risk arise from borrowingand investing. Gearing risk. Gearing risk for non-bank companies is therisk arising from exposures to high financial gearing and large amountsof borrowing. Political risk depends to a large extent on the politicalstability in the countries in which an organisation operates and theattitudes of governments towards protectionism. A change of governmentcan sometimes result in dramatic changes for businesses.

In an extremecase, e. Even in countries with a stablepolitical system, political change can be significant, e. Legal , or litigation risk arises from the possibilityof legal action being taken against an organisation.

Regulations mightapply to businesses generally e. Compliance risk is the risk of losses, possibly fines, resulting from non-compliance with laws or regulations. Measures toensure compliance with rules and regulations should be an integral partof an organisation's internal control system. Technology risk arises from the possibility thattechnological change will occur.

Environmental risk faces a business due to the environmentaleffects of its operations. These effects may include pollutionresulting from business activity, such as oil spillages and hence therisk of being held liable for such pollution, along with punitiveaction or restrictions on the supply of natural resources to thebusiness due to environmental factors e.
