This post contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure. Your project management plan is more than just a schedule of work. And as a project manager, it provides the guardrails and guidelines for how you are going to do your job. So what does go in the project management plan? Be pragmatic though. Pick and choose what is relevant to you and the project team.
Keep this section to a paragraph. Talk briefly about your approach to delivery, what project life cycle you are going to follow, and the project planning process. You can also talk about the project management tool you are going to use and your approach to document management. Tip: Mention learnings from previous projects in here. In this part of the document include or at least make reference your product breakdown structure, and Work Breakdown Structure if you have them, major deliverables, or other products.
Ideally you should list everything that is in the project scope in as much detail as you can. If you have a fully-fledged requirements document then you can always reference that, or the project scope statement. This is always a hard part, but you should have some indication in here of the high level project schedule. Include a list of milestones. You can pull important dates from the business case, such as delivery timescales that the exec team has set.
Then you can simply reference that, maybe pulling out a few of the key roles and responsibilities to add into your plan. You can go further and include a resource management plan that sets out how you are going to secure, onboard and work with project resources. Tip: The roles and responsibilities section can help you identify resource requirements. Drop a summary chart into your project plan document.
A complex project might need an appendix that sets out the full detail, but a summary is probably good enough for most project plans. This section of the plan sets out what you are going to use to keep the work under control.
How are you going to know if you are on track for project success? For example, your project plan template might include your approach to status reporting, whether you are going to use Earned Value or not, what software you are going to use to manage the project budget and schedule and so on.
If your company has a standard risk management process, refer to that here. Tip: Putting risks in categories can help you identify more of them, so list your categories in the risk management plan. For example, schedule risks, technical risk, scope risk. Part of managing risk is having your risks documented somewhere. Then reference where all the other risks will be stored and managed. You need to include an indication of the approved project budget. Record how you are going to create your estimates for the project time and money and note any assumptions.
Who are you communicating to? In what way? A full communication plan is probably several pages and if you have another document that covers everything off just reference that one here.
Otherwise include the details about how you are going to manage communications on your project. Typically, that would mean:. Get a communications plan template here. Tip: Include external stakeholders in your comms planning.
How often are you going to report and to whom? Who needs to know about project progress and therefore needs to receive the reports?
Tip: Look at when the project milestones fall and try to get status updates issued around them, in addition to the regular recurring reporting you produce. If you plan to buy something as part of the project, this section is for you to explain how you are going to go about it. Larger projects, or those that require many purchases, could go into detail about the way you will source vendors, choose a vendor and manage the contract.
Information management plans talk about how you are going to create, share and store project information. You simply need a statement or two in here. Reference your project management software and collaboration tools, to set the expectation for the team about what they will be required to use. A successful project is one that delivers a quality output — however you decide to define quality. In this section of the plan, note how you are going to manage quality on the project. If you have a full quality management plan separately, then you can reference it here.
Otherwise talk about what your quality standards are and how you intend to hit them. If you have a schedule for project quality audits or other quality checkpoints, write the dates in the plan. You can add more detail as you go through the planning phases and work out how to best manage quality at each stage. Changes happen for lots of reasons, from poor planning to project delays or a stakeholder changing their mind.
The whole team should know what to do when that happens, which is why this section is really valuable. With everything here, only bother to do what you need. A longer document does not make you look more clever or organized. It just raises the likelihood that no one will read it except you.

Change Control Templates
Uncontrolled change is one of the biggest foes of a project manager. That's why a solid change management process can be a project manager's best friend. Putting this kind of process in place enables you to deliver what the customer has requested, in the timeline required, and within the agreed-upon budget. Without change control, the project scope becomes a moving target and you are at risk of missing one or more of your project success factors. The ability to manage and control change, particularly that of project scope, is a key to reaching goals and a typical performance indicator for a project manager. Project change is inevitable and you must be prepared to deal with it when — not if — it happens. One challenge for project managers is balancing the need to control project change while avoiding undue bureaucracy.
The change control process
Considering the effort that it takes to gather requirements, assemble a team, secure approvals, and create a working schedule, sudden and unexpected "changes to plan" are not always wise - and certainly not always welcome. There are times when change is a mistake, and times when change is essential. No matter which side any given change may be on, change is a reality that must be faced and controlled. The key focus of Integrated Change Control is to measure the impact of change on all project limitations. Changes to any part of the project may be requested during the course of the project, especially during the project executing and monitoring and control phase. It is not necessary to execute all changes. In the Perform Integrated Change Control, changes accepted or rejected basis their evaluation and impact. Whenever a change is requested, it is advisable to identify the impact of the proposed change on project cost, quality, risks, resources, scope, and also on customer satisfaction. In order to obtain the opinions of independent outside Directors concerning important matters such as the compensation and nomination of Officers, our company has established a fair and transparent discretionary Compensation and Nomination Advisory Committee—with three out of four committee members as independent outside directors—as an advisory body to the Board of Directors. The committee members are appointed via resolutions of the Board of Directors, and the committee functions as both the Nomination Committee and the Compensation Committee. In these meetings, the committee members deliberated on matters related to the appointment of directors and executive officers, including candidates for directors and executive officers, as well as resolutions related to compensation and bonuses for directors and executive officers, in response to consultation from the President and Representative Director, and submitted reports to board of directors based on their decisions. Our company holds quarterly meetings with accounting auditors. They exchange opinions and strengthen mutual collaboration. Visual Studio Code is a well-liked editor to support various development activities, programming languages. Git is a source control platform, and it helps you in managing the development activities. It takes snapshots of your filesystem and saves the state of the project in a snapshot. It maintains the stream of snapshots as the file changes over time. In this article, we will explore Git integration in the Visual Studio Code and its useful features. VS code contains integrated Git source control.
I hope so. I have seen some debate going on for some time now in twitter about Git versus TFS here are some examples :. It really a matter of centralized vs. Local changes are always checked in to the central server where other developers can get the latest changes. Changes are shared with other developers by pushing and pulling changes through a remote, shared repository. Git on the other hand does not have a server concept, it has optionally one or many shared repositories.
I think the answer is actually pretty simple if we put aside the need for MS to stay up-to-date : TFS is not a version control system , it is an ALM application lifecycle management product that uses a version control component. What this post will cover its purpose :. TFVC also has great offline support at least from version A distributed VCS is much more than offline support.
I would actually go so far as to say that a DVCS does not offer online support…think about that for moment. This might seem a bit confusing but it will become clearer once you start working with branches, promise. In TFVC if you are offline and try to create a new branch you will get prompted with this error:.
You can also pull changes from the shared repository to your local repository. If you do have a shared repository that no one works in like a shared network folder or something that repository is said to be bare. The biggest difference with Git compared almost any other centralized VCS is the snapshot concept. In a centralized VCS all changes are revisions and changes will result in deltas. In Git all changes commits instead result in a snapshot that reflects how the repository looked at the time of the commit.
Coming from a VCS that uses branches as copies of the parent that it originated from this can be a bit confusing. It can also be a bit confusing when you look at the Git history…. They are just so natural in Git.
Think of it like a DVD or something where you can choose different chapters and move back and forward as you please. So when you switch checkout in Git -terms branch all you do is change chapter in the DVD menu ….
In Git a merge is…wait for it…a commit. But a special type of commit that has multiple parents. Git will, by itself, decide the best way to perform a merge which also makes it a lot easier. The merge commit tagged with v1. All merge conflicts are handled inside the merge commit as you can see from the merge commit above which caused a conflict. No changes are made in the parent commits, history is preserved.

What about the business procepective in more details: wher would you choose TFS vs Git. Is version control a business decision to make really?!
So…upgrade to tfs and use git inside tfs…. Source code control! Reblogged this on ITelite. Every commit is a full snapshot. The parent is only needed to show the graph. But it only point directly to a commit, when you are in a detached head state which should happen rarely….

This is for efficiency. Branching In Git a branch is nothing more than a pointer to a commit or a snapshot. So when you switch checkout in Git -terms branch all you do is change chapter in the DVD menu … Merging In Git a merge is…wait for it…a commit.
Conflicts All merge conflicts are handled inside the merge commit as you can see from the merge commit above which caused a conflict. But Git has no security, right? The biggest differences are from my point of view : The miniature file system snapshot concept that Git has. You have full control over your own repository. Sync to others once you are ready to. Branches do not create anything else than a pointer to a commit.
All commits are local operations. Merges are non-destructive. Share this: Twitter Facebook Email Print.
Since Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server support Git as a source control system, there are a lot of conversions going on about when to choose what version control system. If you think that Git enables you to work work offline, you are right. But so does TFS at least since version But of course you have you have a full offline experience with a distributed version control system.

By now, chances are good you've at least heard of Git. A version control system or VCS, also know as revision control or source control system, is a software utility that tracks and manages changes to a filesystem. When operating at the filesystem level, a VCS will track the addition, deletion, and modification actions applied to files and directories. In the scope of individual source code files, a VCS will track additions, deletions, modifications of the lines of text within that file. VCS is an invaluable tool with many benefits to a collaborative software team workflow. Any software project that has more than one developer maintaining source code files should absolutely use a VCS.

Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support. Importance Of Research In Education
In the context of developed countries, a lot of research has been done to uncover and identify the problems school leaders face in their work but little is known about the school leadership of underdeveloped countries.
In a quest to discover contextual problems in terms of role conflict and role ambiguity of school leaders, this qualitative study tries to capture the experiences of principals in Nepal through in-depth interviews of six community school principals. The findings reveal that the major sources of role conflict and ambiguity for principals from Nepal are problematic power-sharing, low job autonomy, dual role conflict, limited professional development training, and lack of leadership knowledge.
This study analysed 13, survey responses from the Australia Principal Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing survey that were completed between the years and The analysis determined the prevalence of bullying, threats of violence and physical violence against government school leaders, the main perpetrators of these offenses and the moderating effects of key socio-demographic factors.
Factor analysis, structural equation modelling, and bootstrapping were used to explore both partial and full mediation models of these relationships. Results validated a partial mediation model in which learning-centered leadership had moderate direct and indirect effects on teacher professional learning.
The results from Oman are compared with findings from other Asian societies and implications discussed. The function of school leadership has been significantly changed by the multi-layered school context to meet the demands of stakeholders.
An aspect of such inquiry is leadership scepticism and agnosticism, which confronts the question: Does leadership exist, or is it a myth that we have reified? Typically, leadership is identified as a key to constructing high-quality early childhood education services and creating provisions to promote children's successful outcomes.
However, leadership does not occur in isolation. Organisational management scholars point out that success in organisations is mostly reliant on effective followers.
Despite a long tradition of attention to the value of followership in organisational management literature, little attention is given to followership in early childhood education literature. This article reviews conceptualisations of followership from a broad body of literature from organisational management and higher education studies, and a small number of studies in early childhood education literature that mentioned followership.
This small body of early childhood education literature is critiqued in connection with the broader body of literature. This review contributes to increased understandings of the potential value of followership theories and practices in early childhood education. Despite the appeal of promoting and forming collaborative relationships between schools, empirical evidence for an association between school-to-school collaboration and school outcomes is still somewhat lacking.
So far school leadership in rural regions has received only modest attention in leadership research. Therefore, this study was designed to explore the relationship between the core practices of school leaders, organizational school climate and student academic achievement in primary and lower secondary rural schools in a county in Norway. The results from the multivariate analysis and comparisons between the sub-groups suggest that two distinct core practices of school leadership emerge as critical in Norwegian rural school settings.

This blog coincides with a special issue of Management in Education about research methods for educational leadership. This blog is an adapted version of a paper commissioned to reflect on the professional contribution of this collection of papers included in the special issue. As educational leaders who draw on inquiry-based teaching and leadership in our school setting, we believe that an investigation into appropriate and effective methodologies for researching educational leadership complements the longstanding international debate around the knowledge and expertise of teachers and leaders. A heartening observation in this special issue is the widening of research methodologies in the under-recorded area of educational leadership. It is encouraging to note a commitment to mixed research whereby authors refer to listening to stories or narratives as a means to really understand the individual context to complement methods which look at patterns or trends, such as by questionnaire.
Research means to carefully analyze the problems or to do the detailed study of the specific problems, by making use of special scientific methods. Research can be done on any topic, be it medical, non-medical, IT, or anything else. In order to do research, first of all, you need to have a topic or the problem on which you can do research. The topic must have relevant questions to answer. For research, certain steps have to follow like first observation, then background research then preparing of hypothesis, eventually conducting a simple experiment.
