Why do we manage carbohydrate addiction differently than alcohol and opiates?

Published
Alcohol is a poison and a dangerous addiction.

Opiates are a poison and a dangerous addiction.

Carbohydrates are a poison and a dangerous addiction.

They are (all) also lifestyles that separate us from mental and emotional traumas.

In the management of diabetes we teach folks how to eat carbohydrates in the "safest possible way."

"You can have bread, just have whole wheat"

"You can have pasta just have whole wheat pasta"

"You can have sugar, have fiber or fat with it"

Or even about quantity:

"30-50g carbs is 'good' for a diabetic at each meal, just don't have 100g"

No one ever says to an alcoholic “Hey here is how you drink safely”

"Choose wine over beer because it has resveratrol"

"Choose liquor over wine because there are no carbs"

"3 drinks is okay, just don't have 5"

or no one will tell an opiate addict “Here is how you safely consume opiates”
