Webinar: Data Governance and Capability In Sub-Saharan Africa

The Global Data Barometer which is a recent open-access tool that investigates data policies and practices defines data governance as the collection and sharing of data governed by legitimate public rules that respect fundamental rights. Including rules that restrict access to certain data and those that promote availability and re-use of other kinds of data. Capability, on the other hand, focuses on the resources, opportunities, and environment that support the collection, management, sharing, and use of data in a way that contributes to sustainable development.

In this era where Africa is experiencing a data revolution, we explore ways in which countries can move toward better data governance and build upon emerging lessons to enhance capabilities for use of data for sustainable development.
