Voters are going to face a 'crucial question' at this election campaign: Chris Kenny

Published
Sky News host Chris Kenny says the big question is whether bringing economic management “front and centre” in the election campaign either hurts or helps the government.

It comes after the RBA lifted the cash rate up to 0.35 per cent, the first time it's happened during an election campaign since 2007.

“If rates are headed up over coming years, as they undoubtedly are, probably up to two and a half or three per cent, still historically low mind you ... people are going to face then a crucial question at this election campaign,” Mr Kenny said.

“Do voters want the economy managed by a would-be Labor prime minister who doesn't even know the cash rate or the unemployment rate for that matter, and his would-be treasurer … or would voters prefer to stick with the government, the current treasurer and the current prime minister.

“That's a fundamental question. Voters have got 18 days to work it all out.”
