Ontologies, despite supporting sophisticated structures of logic, are surprisingly poor when it comes to managing the language used to represent them. They are typically limited to simple labels tied to the ontology elements. People have frequently used SKOS taxonomies to overcome this, but they have their own weaknesses and disconnects. This session will present an alternative approach to managing vocabularies in association with ontologies, based on work in the forthcoming OMG Multiple Vocabulary Facility standard.
