We are joined today by Susan Shirley, the founder of Global View Leadership. Susan is a cross-cultural leadership coach. By helping individuals improve their emotional and cultural intelligence, they become more effective leaders, create more cohesive teams, and deliver better results for their organizations.

We cover key topics around multicultural leadership including implicit or unconscious bias and that we are hardwired to be have some level of bias from when we are born. We also discuss the cultural aspects of the Expat assignment. We explore this from the angle of both the locals at the receiving company and the challenges and emotions that the expat also goes through. One aspect of this is inclusion and creating an environment where everyone feels included.

We also find many times in our career where we are working on multinational and multicultural teams and projects. Susan shares with us some practical tips on how to establish effective team charters and working arrangements across borders with a key focus on communication and learning from each other.
