Statement of Need
Our learners need the knowledge and strategies to assist in recognizing, evaluating and treating common and not so
common problems presenting in a primary care setting, including when it is appropriate to refer.
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
 Discuss the pathophysiology and pathogenesis differentiating Type 2 Diabetes from other forms
 List the diagnostic approaches used for Type 2 Diabetes
 Describe the various management options available (activity, dietary, pharmacologic) for Type 2 Diabetes
