Top 10 Systems for Your Enterprise Architecture in 2022

Published
Regardless of the size of your company or the stage of your journey, you will most likely require multiple systems in your architecture. Some of these systems need to be part of the enterprise architecture while others could remain siloed. Also, the analytical systems are inherently different from your operational systems where operational systems are the lifeblood of your architecture and require much tighter governance processes around their shared master data.

And irrespective of how many systems you plan to use in your architecture, the only way to make your digital journey successful would be to have clear roles and responsibilities for each of the systems in the architecture. Inability to have clear boundaries of the systems would result in duplicated data across systems, which will drive the admin costs and operational inefficiencies that sometimes may result in financial trouble for the companies.

So in order to have a blueprint for your architecture, first you need to understand the different options that are available and the resulting design patterns containing these systems. You have a choice to use a fully integrated ERP system without worrying about integration across specialized systems. Or you could use a best-of-breed architecture where you might be required to integrate using integration technology unless the system is just a bolt-on and with the pre-baked integration.

And if you are responsible for setting up the tone of your enterprise architecture, you will discover hundreds of options. They all will appear similar in capabilities. They all will claim that they can do anything and everything. But make sure you are not buying the marketing hype printed on the marketing brochure. You need to go deeper and ensure that your architecture is going to have legs and it’s going to work in the real world.

So what are the factors you need to look at while reviewing different systems for your solution architecture? Are you simply looking at the feature sets? Do you need to pay attention to the size of the product? How about the technology and platform? That's exactly what we have discussed in this video.

We have analyzed the top 10 systems that are typically part of the enterprise architecture and their roles and responsibilities.
