The health of our oceans is vital to our future. We must do everything to protect it.

One effective way to do this is through fisheries co-management, where the government and user groups, such as local fishers , share the responsibility for sustainable fisheries management.

The Korea-FAO Sustainable and Innovative Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme is enhancing the effectiveness of fisheries co-management around the world by:

Promoting sustainability and supporting livelihoods through shared decision-making.

Supporting tenure rights by clarifying access to fishery resources.

Boosting the participation of fishing communities in capacity building programmes.

Providing support to fight Illegal Unreported and Unregulated fishing.

Promoting the adoption of a common framework to help with data collection and evaluation

Only by working together we are ensuring healthy oceans for a better future for all.
