The MAHFSA is a joint initiative between the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), supported by the Global Environment Centre (GEC) and the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), that aims to reduce transboundary haze pollution and its impacts, promoting sustainable forest management and peatland conservation in Southeast Asia.

MAHFSA is supporting the ASEAN Member States to achieve the objectives of the ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy, the key targets of the ASEAN Programme on Sustainable Management of Peatland Ecosystems and support implementation of the ASEAN Haze-Free Roadmap. The Programme seeks to develop an investment programme focusing on haze elimination and sustainable peatland management anchored in country and regional level activities.

The Programme was designed and is currently being implemented by a consortium of the ASEC, IFAD, CIFOR and the GEC, working in close coordination with the ASEAN Member States.
