You are invited to the launch of the IoDSA’s Social and Ethics Committee Forums guidance paper on The governance of ethics - ethical culture oversight criteria for the Social and Ethics Committee.
While there is clear directive from Principle 2 of King IV for the governing body to govern the ethics of the organisation in a way that supports the establishment of an ethical culture, there is often uncertainty about what ethical culture is and how to positively affect it through effective governance and oversight.
The guidance paper provides a taxonomy (a set of measurable dimensions) that outlines the most pertinent aspects of what an ethical culture is composed of. These can be used by boards for overseeing and assessing the effectiveness of an organisation’s ethics management strategy and ethics management plan in a more practical manner, to achieve the establishment of an ethical culture.
