Advocata Institute hosted one of the biggest economic conferences in Sri Lanka; Let's Reset Sri Lanka #ReformNow on the 5th and 6th of August 2022 at BMICH. This 2 day economic policy conference discussed the economic reforms needed to redirect Sri Lanka to a path of economic recovery and growth.

Currently SOEs are gazetted under various ministries which are fraught with inherent conflicts of interest. The respective ministries are policy makers and in some instances, the regulator.

During the session on State-Owned Enterprise Reforms, Professor Rohan Samarajiva (Founding Chair, LIRNEasia and Senior Advisor, Advocata Institute), Ajit Gunawardena (Founder and CEO - Bluestone Capital), Dr. Roshan Perera (Senior Research Fellow, Advocata Institute) and Daniel Alphonsus discuss whether SOEs should be managed and owned under a government owned conglomerate like structure to improve performance, capital allocation and governance?
