Southern Illinois prescribed burn Shawnee National forest-habitat management practice

In today's episode we'll be participating in a Southern Illinois prescribed burn (aka prescribed fire), both on the Shawnee National Forest and some private properties as well. The main agency heading up today's prescribed burns is the Southern Illinois Prescribed burn association. Prescribed fire is used as a habitat management tool, and overall land management tool to reduced woodland fire fuel, and promote natural growth and natural regeneration of woodland browse and natural cover for wildlife.
