Siri 4 “Quality Teaching & Learning of English Language: A Responsive Curriculum & Support Training”

English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) would like to invite everyone to join our webinar entitled “Quality Teaching and Learning of English Language: A Responsive Curriculum and Support Training”. We will discuss at length the teacher training curriculum for English Language and Early Childhood Education, the way forward and support training available.

The distinguished speakers are as follows:
1. Prof. Dr. Raja Nor Safinas Raja Harun, is a professor at the English Language and Literature Department, Faculty of Languages and Communication, UPSI. She is an ESL teacher educator, researcher and supervisor both at Master and PhD level in the area of ELT and teacher education. Her areas of publication and research include ESL teacher education, innovative pedagogy and classroom discourse. She was the recipient of the prestigious National Academy Award 2015, Teaching & Learning Category (Social Science & Arts) organised by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. She was also a member of the English language Standards and Quality Council, Ministry of Education or ELSQC in 2016-2018. At present, she is the Dean, Institute of Graduate Studies, UPSI.

2. Dr. Hamidah Samsudin is the Deputy Director of Institute of Teacher Education International Languages Campus (IPGKBA), Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur. She was previously the Senior Assistant Director also the Head of Languages and Arts Department in the Centre of Academic Excellence, Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM). She has been involved in the curriculum development for teacher education programmes in IPGM for various languages. She was the Project Manager for Deliverable 6.1 and Deliverable 6.3 under the Cambridge – Malaysia 5-Year Collaboration Plan. She was also the Academic Coordinator for IPG Master’s Programme and one of the MOE Task Force members involved in developing the Post-Secondary English Language Curriculum Framework, together with other MOE Divisions namely Matriculation Division, School Management Division and a few more.

3. Dr. Kalminderjit Kaur a/p Gurcharan Singh is the Deputy Director of English Language Teaching Centre, an institution that is responsible for providing continuous professional development for in-service English language teachers. Dr Mindy, as she is popularly known to all, oversees the development and implementation of English Language programmes and initiatives conducted by the institution. She started her career as an English Language teacher in primary and secondary schools and moved on to become a teacher trainer. She has trained both preservice and in service teachers. Dr Mindy holds a firm believe that teachers play a significant role in the success of their students.

4. Dr. Chithra a/p K.M. Krishnan Adiyodi is a member of the English Language Standards and Quality Council (ELSQC) after she retired as the Head of Department of English Language Management, English Language Training Centre (ELTC) Ministry of Education. She joined ELTC, after holding an Assistant Director's post in Fully Residential and Excellent Schools Division for five years. Having taught in primary and secondary schools as well as adults, her teaching experience comprises both pedagogy and andragogy. Currently, she is involved in educational projects with NGOs.
