In episode 14 of our deer management series with Chris Rogers on Shooting & Country TV (S&C TV), he's out on a mission to catch up with some fallow prickets. The fallow are extremely hard to stalk on Chris's land, tending to cross over the boundary and only show themselves at very first light, or very last light... unfortunately for us, we chose first light to have a crack at reducing the numbers, which meant a 4am start for the crew!
Luckily, Chris knows his ground better than the back of his hand, and has a very good idea where the fallow herd is likely to be, and at what time. But that's only half the battle won with these hyper-alert deer. As herding animals, fallow deer present a difficult stalk - rather than one set of eyes and ears keeping look out, there are many, and so extreme stealth is a must if you want to be successful!
Find out how Chris gets on and whether he manages to make a dent in the numbers in this latest episode of Deer Management on Shooting & Country TV!
