Saskatchewan activates provincial command for COVID-19 pandemic management – October 7, 2021

Published
In Regina, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe provides an update on the COVID-19 situation in the province amid the fourth wave of the pandemic. He is joined by Marlo Pritchard, Saskatchewan’s Public Safety Agency president. The premier announces that the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre will lead the emergency management response to COVID-19. He says this is being done to better coordinate the pandemic response between government ministries and staff. Moe faces questions from reporters about whether the province will ask the federal government for additional pandemic assistance and about why more public-health restrictions are not being imposed, especially as the Thanksgiving long weekend approaches. Saskatchewan has one of highest infection rates in the country.
