Psychological barriers to equitable evaluation and management of cancer pain

Published
In this webinar, three experts address psychological barriers to equitable cancer pain assessment and management. They discuss how the inherent uncertainties in the evaluation of cancer pain among patients and survivors open the window for attitudes and biases to influence health care providers’ accurate assessment of pain. They also highlight the importance of examining the complex nonverbal dynamics that occur during patient-provider interactions.

The Achieving Equity in Cancer Pain Management Webinar Series is hosted by the NCI Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences. Taking a multilevel perspective, the series examines the factors that individually and jointly affect disparities in the quality and outcomes of cancer pain management and considers approaches to reduce the unequal burden of suffering.
