Nick Francis, Lecturer, University of Sheffield
Nick has worked on disaster relief projects around the world and is acutely aware of the power of infrastructure to transform lives. He has a particular interest in the interplay between technical engineering and human behaviors.


Lauren Barnes, Structural Engineer & Sustainability Consultant, Arup
Lauren currently splits her time between her role as structural engineer, working in integrated design teams, with a sustainability consultant role where she creates regenerative and low carbon strategies and visions for projects across the region. Based in Arup's Sheffield office, Lauren is increasingly focussing on projects that re-use existing structures in retrofit and refurbishment developments, using her dual role to embed low carbon, inclusive and sustainable principles within holistic designs.


John Vigar, Consultant, Vigar Consulting Ltd
John is a Chartered Surveyor, developer, investor, and consultant with over 35 years of residential and commercial property experience. Following a corporate career, he co-founded a development company with his brother 20 years ago. Over the last 3 years he provided consultancy advice and management to Surrey County Council on their Children’s Care Home programme and more recently the Library Transformation programme.


Julia Barfield, Founding Director, Marks Barfield Architects
Julia is an architect who co-founded Marks Barfield Architects, with husband David Marks, over thirty years ago and is on the steering group of Architect’s Declare; a climate action group that is spearheading the dramatic change necessary within the construction industry.
