I am the second semester student of chemistry education study program, UM Pontianak.In this video, I will talk about classroom management styles. Classroom management style refers to the approach or method used by teachers in managing and controlling the learning environment in the classroom. management style applied by the teacher will influence the learning atmosphere, student involvement, and the effectiveness of learning in the classroom. Choosing the right style can create a conducive learning environment and support the achievement of learning goals.
Class management style here will be divided into 10 points. Starting from the classroom management style: authoritarian, democratic, permissive, firm, collaborative, laissez-faire, interactive, instructional, disciplined, and finally flexible.
1. Authoritarian Style (Authoritarian)
- Teachers have complete control over the class - Teachers make all decisions and rules
- Students must obey the teacher's instructions without asking too many questions
2. Democratic Style (Democratic)
- Teachers involve students in decision making - Class rules are created together
- Two-way communication between teachers and student
3. Permissive Style (Permissive)
- Teachers give wide freedom to students
- Little rules and control from the teacher
- Teachers tend to let students do what they want
4. Firm Style (Assertive)
- Teachers set clear rules and expectations
- Teachers are strict in enforcing the rules
- Teachers demonstrate strong leadership
5. Collaborative Style (Collaborative)
- Teachers and students work together in managing the class
- Rules and decisions are made jointly
- The teacher acts as a learning facilitator
6. Laissez-Faire style
- Teachers give wide freedom to students
- Teachers are not actively involved in classroom management
- Students have high autonomy
7. Interactive Style (Interactive)
- Teachers involve students actively in learning
- Two-way communication and intensive feedback
- The teacher acts as a facilitator and guide
8. Instructional Style (Instructional)
- Teachers provide clear instructions and directions
- Focus on achieving learning goals
- Teachers monitor and evaluate student progress
9. Disciplinary Style (Disciplinary)
- Teachers emphasize rules and consequences - Teachers are firm in dealing with deviant behavior
- Focus on maintaining order in the classroom
10. Flexible Style (Flexible)
- Teachers adjust management style according to the situation
- Teachers consider students' needs and characteristics
- Teachers are able to adapt to various classroom conditions
