Managing Biofouling – A Win-Win Solution to Help Curb Climate Change and Preserve Ocean Biodiversity

Biofouling on ships’ hulls leads to higher fuel consumption and more greenhouse gases emitted. Best management practices and innovative technological solutions are readily available to support in part the IMO GHG reduction targets that have been set out for the shipping industry to achieve by 2050.

Speakers: Speakers will come from specialist agencies of the UN (IMO and UNDP) and the GloFouling Project. Other speakers will represent Small Island Developing States (Tonga), industry (shipping and offshore oil and gas) and the scientific research community. In person and online speakers are expected.
