IRP Webinar: Natural Resource Management for Biodiversity Governance

Published
Action on the key drivers of biodiversity loss must be taken at upcoming global events – particularly the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15).

In 2021, the International Resource Panel (IRP) Co-Chairs Janez Potočnik and Izabella Teixeira outlined principles for halting and reversing biodiversity loss through natural resource management in their opinion piece Building Biodiversity. IRP then facilitated a high-level roundtable, bringing together leaders from global nature, development, and civil society organizations to discuss practically operationalizing these principles.

Based on key messages from our Co-Chair's piece and from a group of global leaders, this webinar held on the 1st of March 2022, gave insights on how natural resource management can become a powerful force in implementation of the next global biodiversity targets, to be agreed at CBD COP15.

Panelists:
Izabella Teixeira, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel
Janez Potočnik, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel
Jyoti Mathur-Filipp, Director of Implementation Convention on Biological Diversity
Robert Watson, Former Chair of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
