Interview with Shri Morge Ete, 1st MA LLB AP, Former Labour Commissioner and Former Member APPSC

Shri Morge Ete, son of Late Limor Ete and Late Jopu Angu Ete in the year 1940 at Humgo Rigo Darka Village is the First Arunachalee MA LLB, Former Labour Commissioner, GoAP and Former Member APPSC.

He did his Primary and Middle schooling from Govt. Hr. Sec. School Aalo between 1948 to 1958 thereafter Class IX and X from Pasighat High School in the year 1958-1960. During his schol days at Aalo, he used to received an amount of Rs. 50 as a merit scholarship from Goverment of Assam.

He did his Intermediate Science (Trailed) in the year 1961-62 from the prestigious St. Edmund's College Shillong. With Shri Jomin Tayeng, he was the first Honoured Graduate from NEFA in 1965. Along with Shri Karken Riba he was the first Post Graduate from NEFA. He is also the first Arunachalee post graduate diploma in social welfare. He also obtained a Fellowship Certificate in Labour Management from International Training Institute Sydney, Australia in 1984.

Shri Morge Ete was the First Arunachalee to be offered the post of Lecturer (Economics) in JN College Pasighat in 1969 which he refused. Later on, he served as Graduate Teacher from 1968-72 in Darka M.E School thereafter he joined at M/s TELCO (Now TATA Motors) in Jamshedpur, Bihar as a personnel Officer and worked there betwen 1973-77.

As recalled by the then lieutenant Governer KAA Raja, he returned to Arunachal Pradesh as Assistant Labour Commissioner in 1977 and rose to the position of Labour Commissioner. He was the first Galo to be inducted as Member, APPSC in 2000 a year before his official retirement. He was tbe first recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award from Galo Welfare Society in 2007.

After the age of 75, he has authored five books namely :- 1. The voyage of discovery-an autobiography 2018. 2. The faith in Donyi Polo-a vanishing culture 2020. 3. The Galos: their culture and tradition 2020. 4. The folklores of Galos and 5. Travelling around the world 2021.
