International Internal Audit Awareness Month 2022 #1

May is International Internal Audit Awareness Month, started by the Institute of Internal Auditors in the 1990’s. The purpose of International Internal Audit Awareness Month is to promote the value of internal audit both inside and outside organisations.

The Institute of Internal Auditors describes internal auditing as “…an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organization’s operations. It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes…”.

In short, Internal auditors add value to their organisations by providing assurance, insight, and objectivity.
