Integrating Executive Function Activities into Daily Experiences

Numerous researchers suggest that strong executive function skills are critical for school readiness and the key to success in life. These skills are invaluable in the development and use of reasoning, problem-solving, and creativity in young children. The good news is executive functions are developable skills. In this session we will explore successful approaches and practices to improve executive function skills, including seven governing principles, and ways to integrate core executive functions into daily life.

About the presenter:
Shawn M. Bryant is director and principal consultant with YesToECE (formerly the teaching excellence center) an early childhood training, coaching, and consultancy. A nationally recognized professional development facilitator, Shawn brings 29 years of experience, expertise, and commitment to advancing the work of adults involved in the lives of young children.
In addition to his work at #YesToECE, Shawn is lead coach/consultant for the State of Pennsylvania-Office of Child Development & Early Learning’s EHS-CCP. He supports coaches throughout the state. As program administrator with Yale University Center for Child Development & Social Policy, he trains and facilitates use of the CHILD tool for early childhood mental health consultants across the country.
Shawn is contributing author of forthcoming Trauma-Responsive Family Engagement in Early Childhood: Practices for Equity and Resilience (Fall 2021).
Shawn has taught preschool, college, provided early childhood mental health consultation, lead a county-wide early childhood program, provided training and technical assistance for a State universal prekindergarten program.
