Inside Views of Casting, 4680 Cell & W GA sections! 12 December 2022 Giga Texas Updates (07:00 AM)

Published
Gigafactory Texas on 12 December 2022! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start!

I took a chance and based on the temperature/Dew point spread, winds, and humidity levels, I knew there might be a short window of opportunity to fly and get good inside views before sunrise, and for the most part, it worked out! It was quite misty, wet (humidity near 100%) and fog began to roll in, but I got most of the flight done before it got bad!

In the video introduction, I discuss four interior areas of the main factory and a few clues that are visible. These include the casting machine section, looking for any 9K-Giga Press part deliveries and foundation work, the 4680-battery cell production section with a lot of activity with the installed machinery, the structural pack section and what looks like thousands of completed structural battery packs, and the 3rd floor of the General Assembly section, with all the stored crates, equipment, and other parts.
I also provide inside views of the west main entrance section, showing the mezzanine reconfiguration work and floor designs, as well as continued concrete demolition on the apron area just outside of the main glass doors.
Here are the highlights from today's video:
Despite the mist and fog, we were able to get some good views of the electrical switchyard construction site, where we see progress with more steel component installation and deliveries, steel poles installed around the control room, cable tray installation in the north-south trench just west of the control room and what appears to be drainage pipes from the trench and to the nearby water detention pond.
A lot of work at the battery cathode west foundation construction site, including many more footings completed with concrete, some with vertical projection sections in forms waiting for concrete, and several having rebar cages installed. We also see a large and growing grouped set of concrete and rebar reinforced piers and another deep excavation underway near the north footing installation.
Also at the battery cathode plant, we see crews continuing to assemble iron pipes into manifolds that will be installed in, or suspended from, the nearby steel structure. The structure itself now has the “bridge” section installed, that joins it to the main plant and see a doorway that will allow personnel access across this bridge section.
On the south end of the building, in and around the area where the concrete lot is being demolished, we see two large trenches with underground pipes being installed and assembled. One of these is a concrete pipe that extends from the west to the east along the width of the main structure. The other is a steel corrugated pipe that looks like it will be connected to the existing steel pipe coming out of the southeast corner of the underground splitter box, which is part of the underground extensive water management system.
Also, on the south end of the main building, we see the steel loading platform has now been removed. This is an unexpected development as this has been used to load a lot of materials, production equipment and vehicles into the 3rd floor of the General Assembly section of the main building.
