A beginner's guide to #EssentialManagementSkills : How to be a successful business person?
Welcome to Essential Management Skills!
Important management skills allow managers to direct and oversee the work of other employees. In addition, they assist managers in communicating effectively, solving problems, and making decisions.
It can be tempting to only pay attention to the parts of management that you already know how to do. But this course will help you improve your management skills in all areas, which is important for your long-term success and career growth.
The goal of this class is to provide you with the knowledge and practice you need to become an efficient manager. You'll develop skills in strategic planning, delegation, team motivation, and communication. You'll pick up some skills in problem solving and collaborative decision making as well.
What are the primary responsibilities of management?
An organization's manager plans, organizes, leads, and controls (or a section of an organization). This framework is called P-O-L-C.
Planning.
Setting goals and determining strategies for reaching those goals are the two most important aspects of the planning function. This requires devising a strategy for achieving both short-term and long-term objectives, as well as identifying targets for the immediate future.
All of the organization's internal and external factors, including its resources, strengths, and limitations, should be factored into the planning process. After the strategy has been formulated, it needs to be shared with everyone on the team.
Organizing.
Assigning resources to different tasks and putting together a structure and team to do the work are all part of the organizing function. This means figuring out who is going to do what, when, and where.
Creating an organizational framework is the initial phase of the organizing process. This should be tailored to the organization's and team's requirements. The following phase, after establishing the framework, is to assign duties to individuals and teams.
Leading.
The leader's job is all about getting people to work together to reach the goals. To do this, you need to set a good example, give clear instructions, and help out when it's needed.
A good leader will also be able to boost morale, settle disagreements, and encourage teamwork. Managing change is also part of leading, which can be a challenge in and of itself.
Controlling.
A key part of the controlling role is keeping tabs on things and making adjustments when appropriate. Measurement of success requires the establishment of targets.
Finding and fixing faults or deviations from the plan should be a priority as well. It is important to distinguish between the controlling function and micromanagement, in which a manager interferes with every facet of an employee's work.
