Holistic Authenticity as a Means to Equity and Inclusion | Waheeda Lillevik | TEDxTCNJ

Published
We spend so much of our lives in professional spaces. To be seen as an asset to an organization, we are told to sanitize our identities, and align ourselves with the requirements of our jobs and workplaces. However, this is often at odds with organizational goals of diversity, equity and inclusion. In this talk, Dr. Waheeda Lillevik discusses changing our perspectives toward holistic authenticity, and refocusing responsibility on how we perceive individuals in our professional, as well as personal, lives.
Dr. Lillevik has a Doctorate in Human Resources Management, and has been a professor at The College of New Jersey for 15 years. She has worked in Canada, the US, the UK and Germany, as a Human Resource Management Specialist, focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion, cultural learning, leadership, and the holistic and authentic self as sources of strength in the workplace. Her research interests involve cross-cultural management, inclusion and acculturation, with a strong focus on empowering and celebrating the holistic self within the organization, through systematic human resources mechanisms. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
