The GIZ Governance Support Programme in South Africa, implemented on behalf of the Federal Government of Germany and co-funded by the Governments of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the United States of America, works jointly with National and Local Government across the country (mainly in two provinces, Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape) to improve supply chain management capacity on all levels. In order to provide the South African citizens with efficient and high-quality services, public procurement needs to be done properly.

In this video, the implemented measures are highlighted by partners, beneficiaries and GIZ staff to demonstrate the impact achieved to date as well as outlook into long-term change for the institutions to better fulfil their mandate. Support activities range from diverse training measures for public officials in eight local municipalities to support for the National Treasury on a professionalisation of the procurement sector through the set-up of a Supply Chain Council.
