GCGT Education Webinar: Demystifying Cancer and Cancer Treatment Related Pain

Do you have cancer or cancer treatment related pain? What pain is normal to experience during and after cancer treatment? This education session will review the many types of cancer and cancer treatment related pain and pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options. We will discuss strategies for managing your pain through your treatment, living with chronic pain as a cancer survivor or when receiving the palliative approach to care. We will discuss how pain can impact physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and functional aspects of your life. Hopefully you learn something new or you can share and teach us something!

Jocelyn Brown, RN, MN
Jocelyn Brown, RN, MN, is a pain and palliative care clinical nurse specialist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. This role includes collaborating with patients that are admitted to the hospital to develop their pain management plan. She also works in the cancer pain clinic with patients that are at home that experience pain before, during or after their cancer treatments. She has been supporting people with cancer and cancer survivors as a clinical nurse specialist in pain and palliative care for over 12 years. She has been a nurse for over 17 years and loves providing a holistic approach, addressing not just the physical aspects of peoples suffering but the emotional, social and spiritual parts. She has done volunteer work with both Camp Oochigeas and Young Adult Cancer Canada and both of these organizations hold a place in her heart. She has presented at many conferences on cancer pain management.
