IMPLEMENTING THE FSM TOOLBOX IN MUNICIPALITIES. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FROM SOUTH AFRICA.

This session provides feedback on the approach used to introduce the FSM Toolbox to South Africa (SA). The national sanitation sector leader and the pilot municipality will be providing their experience regarding the FSM Toolbox introduction and pilot exercise.

Structured multi-level engagements across the South African water sector were carried out such as to advocate, trial and profile the benefits and practical value offerings of the FSM Toolbox to the various levels of the South African sanitation services sector. Appropriate promotion, piloting and trainings were carried out across the user continuum.

The FSM Toolbox was positively welcomed by the SA sanitation sector, from the national strategic level, to the planning and regulation components, and especially at the “on the ground” user level (e.g. municipal local government).
