In 2021, FAO supported 694 295 people with livestock protection assistance packages in Afghanistan. Each herding family received 200 kg concentrated animal feed, animal health treatment and training in sustainable livestock management.
The support not only helped herders to protect their animals through the harsh winter but also assisted them to keep their animals healthy and productive.
FAO continues to prioritize the assistance to the most vulnerable people, particularly women, in rural and remote villages to provide them with certified seed, fertilizers, animal feed and veterinary support, such as deworming medicine to protect their livestock against diseases and parasites.
