Fall Hive Management

My goals in fall hive management are to anticipate winter deadouts, and either prevent them…or speed them up.

The biggest causes of deadloss over winter are food stores, queen issues, and high mite loads.

In the fall I can feed to put weight on light hives, I can address mite numbers if needed, and if I have queen issues I can shake out or combine queenless hives.
