Oral Histories with Pioneering Women Conservationists: Elizabeth Losey (1912–2005), the first female research biologist hired by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A special series in celebration of Women's History Month.

This oral history was carried out in March 2003 where the 91-year old Elizabeth Losey remembered her first job working for the USFWS National Wildlife Refuge System at Seney National Wildlife Refuge, Michigan. Losey recalls former Refuge Chief J. Clark Salyer and Seney Refuge Manager C.S. Johnson. She also recounts the challenges in being in a post-war refuge in less than ideal circumstances. This oral history was conducted by USFWS Historian Mark Madison and Videographer George Gentry. The original tapes are housed in the USFWS Oral History Collection in the USFWS Museum/Archives at the National Conservation Training Center.
