Cecilia Solér, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business Administration, at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, gives a Sea and Society Talk about Ecosystem-based marine governance, including market actors, recognizes a variety of interactions within an ecosystem including human activity, rather than mainly focusing on specific species, or ecosystem services in isolation.
ABOUT THE TALK
To this day, research on ecosystem-based marine governance has been dominated by the natural science, economic, political, and legal perspectives. Adding the market perspective on ecosystem-based marine governance helps in analyzing marine environment challenges from the perspective of what market actors such as consumers, producers, distributors, politicians etc, do. Including the market perspective helps us understand how important and complex marine governance challenges are shaped by market actors in a regulatory setting.
