Covid led to severe economic & health disruptions. To counter it government shot up its expenditure on social services like health, education etc. This chapter discusses all these developments in social sector. It also discusses the developments in rural sector as well as government’s effort related to basic needs of society like power, water, sanitation.
This topic also talks about various efforts by government towards clean energy and various methods of financing environment friendly investments.

The Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2022-23 in Parliament, which projects a baseline GDP growth of 6.5 percent in real terms in FY24. The projection is broadly comparable to the estimates provided by multilateral agencies such as the World Bank, the IMF, and the ADB and by RBI, domestically.
