Part A: The Basic Concepts of Earthquake-Resistant Design and an Introduction to U.S. Seismic Regulations

Speaker: Michael J. Griffin, P.E., is President of CCS Group, Inc, and one of the lead developers of this training.

EERI’s Student Leadership Council and the Applied Technology Council are presenting a pair of free webinars on FEMA P-749, Earthquake-Resistant Design Concepts: An Introduction to the Seismic Provisions for New Buildings. These webinars will review earthquake engineering concepts taught in school and help you understand how they bridge to design practice. Expect to learn essential information that will improve your SDC model design now and leave you better prepared for graduate school or industry in the future. Participants will come away with a better understanding of the seismic provisions for buildings and the role of building regulations in earthquake safety.

This webinar will be of interest to students, practicing engineers looking to improve their knowledge of seismic design, and non-engineering audiences interested in the basis and intent of U.S. seismic provisions. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions.
