Dr Mpho Phalatse on the Soweto electricity crisis

The Soweto electricity crisis spilled over onto the streets yesterday morning when dozens of frustrated residents barricaded the Soweto Highway.
Residents of Diepkloof Zone 3 say they have been without power for two weeks. Meanwhile, a joint statement from Eskom and newly elected City of Joburg Mayor Dr Mpho Phalatse said the outage was due to illegal connections.
