Blue Owl Capital Inc. has emerged as one of the fastest-growing and most disruptive players in private markets. The New York-based firm, the product of a contested merger between two giants in alternative assets, now boasts $70 billion in assets. In this interview, co-founders and co-presidents Michael Rees and Marc Lipschultz explain how they’ve adapted a Silicon Valley-type business model for financial services. They also discuss the controversy that threatened to derail their SPAC, Blue Owl’s strategy in private credit, its expansion into real estate and the potential for more minority investments into professional sports. Rees and Lipschultz spoke exclusively with Erik Schatzker on Bloomberg’s “Front Row.”
