Controversial pandemic management bill set to pass Victorian Parliament

Published
Daniel Andrews' controversial pandemic laws look set to pass Victoria parliament after it agreed to amend the bill to secure crucial crossbench support in the Upper House.

As part of the deal, seven amendments were made to the bill which include the halving of fines for failing to complying with public health orders and a requirement to release the public health advice within seven days.

In addition, the premier will only be able to declare a pandemic upon demonstrating there are "reasonable grounds" to do so.
