Who is Dr. B Varalakshmi?

Dr. B Varalakshmi is a Lecturer in the field of Commerce. She started her career in 1993. Since 1997, she is the Head of Department of Commerce and M.Com Co-ordinator at Rajajinagar Parents Association College. Additionally, she is an Author for B.Com Text Books and also published various articles in Journals and Magazines.

Her enormous interest in acquiring more knowledge and keeping herself updated made her acquire three Master degrees-M.Com, M.Phil, M.B.A and Ph.D. in the field of Human Resource Management. She has been awarded for achievement in the field of education and her contribution to the society especially during pandemic situations from Karnataka small scale Industries Association and she was honoured by Sri Ravishankar Guruji. She is also a State Awardee as the Best Lecturer of the state given by the Government of Karnataka on 5th September 2021. She has a profound interest in moulding and motivating downtrodden students to achieve heights by building self-confidence in them and guiding them on the right path.

What will be her TEDxTalk be about?

Due to rapid changes in technology, organizations expect their workforce to possess various skills to meet the changing work requirements. Today organizations look for "Skill Certification" rather than "Degree Certification", especially during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. According to employer reports of various organizations state that there is a wide skill gap among employees.

She wants to enlighten the young audience about these skill gaps and motivate them to prepare themselves to earn and thrive in this competitive world in the post-COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she is an Author for B.Com Text Books and also published various articles in Journals and Magazines. She Represented Karnataka, Department of Education for the commerce subjects for high school students to give her suggestions and opinions on “Learning Outcomes at Higher Secondary Stage” prepared by NCERT in the month of November 2020. Currently, she is developing methods to teach students through digital learning platforms with limited resources.
