Summary: This year’s theme is “Advancing Leaders Through Collaboration." As defined by the Federal Asian Pacific American Council (FAPAC), collaboration at its core, requires leadership. Collaboration improves team dynamics, enhances problem solving leading to increased innovation, process efficiency, improved communication, and ultimately overall success.

Bio(s): Christi-Anne Castro is Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Global Engagement and an associate professor in the Musicology Department of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan. She received her PhD in Ethnomusicology from UCLA. Her book, Musical Renderings of the Philippine Nation, was published in 2011 (Oxford University Press) and received an award in 2012. Her publications, scholarly talks, and projects deal with music of the Philippines, identity politics, nationalism, and community music. She has been a fellow with the Faculty Scholars Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Michigan (2010-2011) and the Mellon Public Engagement and the Humanities program (2019-2020). She has also been involved for most of her life as a performer, arranger, composer, musical director, and consultant with the Iskwelahang Pilipino Rondalla of Boston, a community music ensemble.
