Published
Industry specialist and consultant Dominic Cahill describes, analyses and explains the key features of implementing data governance in an agile and practical way illustrated by a real-world example.

His presentation to the Data Vault User Group talks about the underlying principles of delivering effective data governance and data quality in a non-invasive way.

He believes that it is crucial to deliver business value and to be seen to deliver business value. He uses objective and goal setting measured through monitoring. This is applied in an agile way using a pilot/proof of concept approach supported by an iterative approach. He illustrates this by describing a real-world project at a specialist insurance business. Key governance deliverables are identified and explained.

He also highlights how data quality improvements through data community groups is achieved by engaging the wider organisation.
